One of the world's most beautiful Merlin IVC's, Owned by a fastidious English International Businessman; who demands the highest level of safety and comfort in his aircraft
12 VIP Seats with extensive onboard entertainment and comfort enhancing options to ensure pleasant flights in this beautiful long range aircraft.
The Merlin IV-C is a close relative (same basic airframe) as the 1000+ Metro Airliners that have been produced and are flying in virtually every continent of the world. They typically are used in remote areas further attesting to their rugged and reliable design. This pays off in reliability and piece-of-mind for the discriminating flyer. This particular Merlin IV-C is completely current as maintained under an FAA part 135 certificate. This is the highest standard of safety and oversight a US Aircraft of this type can be maintained and operated to. All the modification work to convert this Aircraft to a “corporate cockpit” including avionics, autopilot and safety systems plus increase the gross weight to 16,000 pounds has been accomplished by the original manufacturer at their facility in San Antonio, Texas. Other items taken care of during the refit in 2003 were fresh fuel cell reseals and the Spar Mod and GCU Mods (ADs completed. The Aircraft’s engines are the well regarded Garrett TPE-331-11U-612G. These engines have a 5400 hour TBO and for operators that fly high utilization, the TBO can be set at 7000 hours. The last major maintenance items completed most recently are fresh prop overhauls (and one of the props has basically been rebuilt with all new parts, the other prop was well within limits on most parts) and the right engine had a hot section and the left engine had an “engine power restoration” shop visit in early 2008 at Garrett/Landmark Aviation in Augusta, GA.
This was one of the last Metro IIIs built. It was only with one airline, Air New Zealand, a top quality (recognized by Fairchild as such) Metro operator with what was very likely the best Metro maintenance organization in the world. It was acquired specifically for conversion to an executive aircraft with the knowledge that the clean prior history would be a comforting factor for the new owner and help ensure the best possible future service
